What's an Information Session? What's an Admissions Interview?

Great questions.

An Information Session is an opportunity to meet with an Admissions representative to discuss Hillsdale and the admissions process. Prospective students and guests attend these sessions together, which generally last 30 minutes.

An Admissions Interview is an important part of the application process in which prospective students meet with an interviewer to discuss their involvements, passions, academic goals, and college search. This generally lasts 30 - 45 minutes, after which both the student and guests meet together with the interviewer to answer any additional questions. Interviews are for high school seniors in the fall and seniors and juniors in the spring.

What is included in an Evening Visit?

An Evening Visit includes dinner on campus and time to interact with current students. The purpose is to give you a glimpse of Hillsdale after classes end — a chance to experience the community, dorm culture, and vibrant student life.

What will I do during the Evening Visit?

Evening Visits are flexible and student-led. You’ll eat dinner with your host (and possibly the host's friends), and may have the chance to:

Tour a residence hall
Visit the Sports Complex to play or watch a game
Attend a lecture, Bible study, or campus event
Explore spaces like the arboretum or athletic facilities
Go to a concert, performance, or student organization meeting

No two Evening Visits are the same — you’ll get an authentic look at campus life.

What time do Evening Visits typically begin and end?

Evening Visits run from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Is dinner provided during the visit?

Yes. Dinner is provided for the prospective student and his or her parents. Parents are welcome to join their student for this portion if they’d like.

Can parents/guardians attend the Evening Visit with their student?

Parents are invited to join for dinner. Afterward, the visit is designed just for the prospective student, so he or she can experience Hillsdale alongside current students.

Is there an Overnight option connected to the Evening Visit?

Overnight options are only available for admitted students at this time.

Where should I check in when I arrive on campus?

Please check in at the Dow Hotel and Conference Center (22 East Galloway Drive, Hillsdale, MI 49242).

Will I be visiting with other prospective students, or is it an individual visit?

Evening Visits are hosted by a current Hillsdale student of your same gender. You may also be paired with up to three other prospective students of the same gender during your visit.

What should I wear or bring with me for the Evening Visit?

We recommend bringing:

A change of comfortable athletic clothes (in case your host goes to the gym or a game)
Something to read or do if your host has a quick study group
Your phone and any personal items you might need
